Comparing Accelerated Treatment Options

Morita Orthodontics is proud to offer the most comprehensive orthodontics in Aiea and Honolulu, HI. We believe in going above and beyond to make sure that our patients receive the most effective and efficient orthodontic treatment possible. Not only do we provide treatments such as braces and Invisalign, but we’re also proud to offer accelerated orthodontic treatment.

Accelerated Orthodontics: An Overview

Accelerated orthodontics is a type of orthodontics where the patient wears another orthodontic device in conjunction with braces or Invisalign in order to speed up treatment time. This can reduce treatment times by months or even years.  Both of the accelerated orthodontic treatment options that we offer—AcceleDent and Propel—significantly speed up orthodontic treatment time for our patients.

AcceleDent

As the name suggests, AcceleDent is one of our accelerated treatment options. To speed up orthodontic treatment, we fit the AcceleDent mouthpiece around your existing orthodontics. Some of the features of AcceleDent include the following:

  • AcceleDent is clinically proven and safe.
  • AcceleDent is compatible with both braces and Invisalign.
  • This treatment speeds up the movement of teeth by up to 50%.
  • AcceleDent is used at home and meant to be worn around the braces or other orthodontics for about 20 minutes per day to maximize the benefits.
  • This treatment doesn’t require you to make any extra visits to the orthodontist.

Propel

The Propel System is a revolutionary new system that stimulates bone remodeling. Propel is a device that makes micro-perforations in the bone around the teeth in order to quicken the orthodontic treatment process. Some of Propel’s features include the following:

  • Propel is clinically proven and safe.
  • Propel is compatible with both braces and Invisalign.
  • This treatment speeds up the movement of teeth by about 50 to 60%.
  • We perform the Propel procedure in our office, and it only takes a few minutes. There is also no recovery time needed after this and you can immediately return to your normal routine.
  • When you use Propel, you’ll have to come back about every three months to renew the effects.

Notice of Temporary Closure

RE: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

To our valued patients,

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), President Trump, the American Dental Association and the Hawaii Dental Association are recommending all dentists postpone nonemergency dental procedures for 2 weeks. Our practice is committed to protecting the community and avoiding using valuable resources that our first responders and frontline healthcare providers will need.

Our office will be closed effective today, Wednesday, March 18, and we plan to resume regular hours on Wednesday, April 1. If you are experiencing a true dental emergency including swelling or severe tooth pain, please call your general dentist office, and listen closely as emergency contact info will be available. For all nonemergent questions, please email us at [email protected].

We are so sorry for the burden this places on your schedules, but your continued health and safety are our number one priority. Our office is working diligently to reschedule all patients with existing appointments within the next 2 weeks. We will continue to evaluate the situation as it evolves and determine on a weekly basis when it is appropriate for us to return to normal orthodontic patient care. We ask for your compassion and understanding at this time as we all work together to keep Hawaii healthy.

Sincerely,

Your Morita Orthodontics Ohana
