Accelerated Orthodontics in Honolulu & Aiea, Hawaii

We’ve made it our goal here at Morita Orthodontics to provide the most comfortable and convenient orthodontic treatments for those in and around Aiea and Honolulu, Hawaii. Not only do we pride ourselves on the effectiveness of these treatments, but we’ve gone above and beyond to supply the latest in technology to improve your experience. One such procedure that we’re able to offer you is our accelerated orthodontics procedure that’s known as Propel Orthodontics.

What Is Propel Orthodontics?

Propel Orthodontics is a revolutionary orthodontic device that works with the patient’s own biology to stimulate the bone that’s surrounding the teeth. Propel uses micro-osteoperforations to accelerate the bone regrowth and the tooth movement. This allows for a much quicker orthodontic treatment.

Propel is a simple process that follows these steps:

  • First, your orthodontist will use x-rays to determine the size of the existing gaps between your teeth. These are the areas where we’ll perform the micro-osteoperforations.
  • We’ll then feel the bone beneath your gums so that we can physically confirm these findings.
  • We’ll administer a local anesthetic to make sure that you don’t feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure.
  • Your orthodontist will then use the Propel device to make a tiny hole through your gum and into the underlying bone. On either side of every tooth that’s going to be moved during orthodontic treatment, somewhere from one to three holes will be made.

With this quick and easy process, your teeth movement will be accelerated. In some cases, you may need to come back to have it done once every two months. In other cases, you may only need it once!

Propel’s accelerated orthodontics can benefit you in the following ways:

  • Propel will help your teeth move faster and allow your tissues to heal quicker than they would have with just orthodontic treatment alone.
  • It can speed up the movement of the teeth by up to 50-to-60 percent! This can effectively cut treatment time in half!
  • There’s pretty much no recovery time needed afterward. You’ll be able to return to your daily routine immediately.
  • Propel is able to be used with both Invisalign and braces.
  • It offers a safe and clinically proven procedure.

Am I a Candidate for Propel?

Almost certainly, yes! As long as you’re able to undergo orthodontic treatment, you’ll very likely be able to receive all of the benefits that Propel can offer you. To be absolutely positive though, you may want to visit your Honolulu and Aiea, Hawaii orthodontist to find out.

RE: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

To our valued patients,

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), President Trump, the American Dental Association and the Hawaii Dental Association are recommending all dentists postpone nonemergency dental procedures for 2 weeks. Our practice is committed to protecting the community and avoiding using valuable resources that our first responders and frontline healthcare providers will need.

Our office will be closed effective today, Wednesday, March 18, and we plan to resume regular hours on Wednesday, April 1. If you are experiencing a true dental emergency including swelling or severe tooth pain, please call your general dentist office, and listen closely as emergency contact info will be available. For all nonemergent questions, please email us at [email protected].

We are so sorry for the burden this places on your schedules, but your continued health and safety are our number one priority. Our office is working diligently to reschedule all patients with existing appointments within the next 2 weeks. We will continue to evaluate the situation as it evolves and determine on a weekly basis when it is appropriate for us to return to normal orthodontic patient care. We ask for your compassion and understanding at this time as we all work together to keep Hawaii healthy.

Sincerely,

Your Morita Orthodontics Ohana
