Clarity™ braces are a less noticeable way to straighten your teeth compared to traditional metal braces. While regular ceramic braces also offer this advantage, Clarity™ braces are a step up because they’re made of an enhanced ceramic material that is sturdier than classic ceramic braces. Compared to traditional ceramic braces, Clarity™ braces are more advanced because they are made using a stronger and more durable ceramic material developed by 3M. Clear braces work just as effectively as metal braces but they’re much less noticeable, making them ideal for busy professionals, teenagers and anyone who doesn’t want to spend months wearing a mouth full of metal on their teeth. Instead of feeling self-conscious about wearing visible metal braces, people wearing clear braces can breeze through their treatment feeling good about their smiles due to the discreet nature of their orthodontic appliances.
Clear ceramic braces are the same size and shape as metal braces, except they have translucent brackets that blend into the natural color of the teeth. People who choose to wear ceramic braces feel more confident about their treatment, knowing that people are focusing on them, instead of their braces.
While clear ceramic braces are very discreet, the ceramic material is more prone to breakage than metal braces, requiring greater care on the patient’s part to avoid hard and sticky foods and activities that may damage the braces. The elastic ties used with these braces can also become discolored with time. However, these ties are changed regularly at every orthodontic visit.
Clarity braces from 3M Unitek feature a small and comfortable design with a translucent appearance. Another option in clear braces comes in the form of aligners. Clear Invisalign aligners look similar to protective mouth guards as they fit snugly over the teeth. The aligners can be removed when eating and cleaning the teeth, making this treatment option both discreet and convenient. Clear aligners can also be removed temporarily for special occasions like weddings, interviews and school & family photos, as long as they’re put back in immediately afterward. The convenience and discreet nature of clear aligners makes Invisalign one of the most requested treatments we offer.

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), President Trump, the American Dental Association and the Hawaii Dental Association are recommending all dentists postpone nonemergency dental procedures for 2 weeks. Our practice is committed to protecting the community and avoiding using valuable resources that our first responders and frontline healthcare providers will need.
Our office will be closed effective today, Wednesday, March 18, and we plan to resume regular hours on Wednesday, April 1.
