Summer Braces-Friendly Recipes

At Morita Orthodontics, we want all our patients to have a pleasant experience while they’re obtaining their new healthy & beautiful smiles! In a sense, orthodontic treatment is a two way street as both the patient and his or her Honolulu & Aiea orthodontist has responsibilities. While your orthodontist is responsible for moving your teeth into the desired position, you must do your part to make sure your treatment progresses as it should. A few of the things you must do includes practicing good oral hygiene, keeping all your appointments and making sure you watch what you eat so you don’t damage your braces. Now that summer is here, we would like to share a few braces-friendly recipes with you that are perfect for enjoying when the weather is hot. All these recipes are quick and easy to make.

This delicious omelet is a great way to start a busy summer day and it only takes a few minutes to make.

Ingredients:

Cooking spray
2/3 cup frozen corn, thawed
½ cup zucchini, chopped in small pieces
3 tablespoons green onions, chopped
2 tablespoons water
dash of salt & pepper
3 eggs
3 tablespoons cheddar cheese

Directions :

Coat a saucepan with cooking spray and place over medium-high heat. Add the corn, zucchini & onions and saute for 4 minutes or until the veggies are tender. In a bowl, combine a dash of salt and a pinch of pepper, water, and eggs and stir with a whisk. Then heat a nonstick frying pan over medium-high heat. Coat the frying pan with cooking spray. Then pour the egg mixture into the pan and cook until the edges set. Lift the cooked edges of the omelet with a spatula while tilting the pan so the uncooked eggs come into contact with the hot pan. Then spoon the corn and zucchini mixture onto half of the omelet and sprinkle the cheese over the mixture. Fold the omelet in half over the corn/zucchini mixture and cook until cheese melts. Serve and enjoy!

Notice of Temporary Closure

RE: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

To our valued patients,

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), President Trump, the American Dental Association and the Hawaii Dental Association are recommending all dentists postpone nonemergency dental procedures for 2 weeks. Our practice is committed to protecting the community and avoiding using valuable resources that our first responders and frontline healthcare providers will need.

Our office will be closed effective today, Wednesday, March 18, and we plan to resume regular hours on Wednesday, April 1. If you are experiencing a true dental emergency including swelling or severe tooth pain, please call your general dentist office, and listen closely as emergency contact info will be available. For all nonemergent questions, please email us at [email protected].

We are so sorry for the burden this places on your schedules, but your continued health and safety are our number one priority. Our office is working diligently to reschedule all patients with existing appointments within the next 2 weeks. We will continue to evaluate the situation as it evolves and determine on a weekly basis when it is appropriate for us to return to normal orthodontic patient care. We ask for your compassion and understanding at this time as we all work together to keep Hawaii healthy.

Sincerely,

Your Morita Orthodontics Ohana
