Jaw Surgery

At Morita Orthodontics, our mission is to create beautiful smiles through quality education in orthodontics and by staying on the brink of technological advances so we can provide you and your family with the best possible care. One orthodontic option we can offer is corrective jaw surgery. Corrective jaw surgery straightens and realigns the jaw, correcting irregularities in the jaw bones. These corrections enhance the way your teeth work as well as improve your overall facial profile.

Jaw surgery is a corrective option for our patients with oral issues that cannot be fixed with orthodontics unaccompanied. Dr. Randal Morita and Dr. Scott Morita use the latest digital imaging technology to minimize treatment time, recovery, and effectiveness of jaw surgery for their patients. This grants our patients the ability to return to their normal routines shortly after their jaw surgery treatment.

Types Of Jaw Surgery Offered by Morita Orthodontics

Our doctors at Morita Orthodontics can perform jaw surgery on the upper jaw, lower jaw, chin or any combination of these.

  • Mandibular Setback – This type of orthodontic surgery corrects a proceeding lower jaw. Our orthodontists will make cuts behind the molars so that the jaw can be moved to its new position.
  • Maxillary Impaction Gummy Smile – This type of orthodontic surgery is performed on the upper jaw to correct too much of teeth or gums showing.
  • Mandibular Advancement Lips Closed – This type of orthodontic surgery is done on the lower jaw to correct a receding lower jaw and open bite. Our orthodontist will cut behind the molars to move the jaw into its new position.
  • Maxillary Advancement With Mandibular Setbacks – This type of orthodontic surgery is a two step procedure to correct a receding lower jaw and upper jaw.

RE: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

To our valued patients,

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), President Trump, the American Dental Association and the Hawaii Dental Association are recommending all dentists postpone nonemergency dental procedures for 2 weeks. Our practice is committed to protecting the community and avoiding using valuable resources that our first responders and frontline healthcare providers will need.

Our office will be closed effective today, Wednesday, March 18, and we plan to resume regular hours on Wednesday, April 1. If you are experiencing a true dental emergency including swelling or severe tooth pain, please call your general dentist office, and listen closely as emergency contact info will be available. For all nonemergent questions, please email us at [email protected].

We are so sorry for the burden this places on your schedules, but your continued health and safety are our number one priority. Our office is working diligently to reschedule all patients with existing appointments within the next 2 weeks. We will continue to evaluate the situation as it evolves and determine on a weekly basis when it is appropriate for us to return to normal orthodontic patient care. We ask for your compassion and understanding at this time as we all work together to keep Hawaii healthy.

Sincerely,

Your Morita Orthodontics Ohana
