Invisalign vs. Braces

At Morita Orthodontics, our mission is to help patients of all ages throughout the Honolulu and Aiea, HI areas achieve beautiful, healthy smiles through quality orthodontic treatment. There are a lot of decisions to make throughout the orthodontic treatment process, but for many patients, one of the most important decisions happens at the beginning: should I get treated with braces or Invisalign? There’s no right answer – but there are some pros and cons.

Should I Get Braces or Invisalign?

Ultimately, the decision to get braces or Invisalign is mostly a matter of personal preference. Most patients are eligible for both braces and Invisalign, and both treatments can help you achieve a new smile. The right option for you depends on what you’re looking for from your treatment.

Braces are the time-tested, tried-and-true gold standard for orthodontic treatment. Traditional metal braces are able to correct virtually any orthodontic problem, are more durable and reliable than any Side by side photos of braces and invisalign in mouths of patients.other appliance, and are also the most cost-effective treatment on the market. For those seeking a more utilitarian approach to treatment, braces will get the job done as efficiently and inexpensively as possible.

However, for those seeking an extra layer of convenience, Invisalign has a lot to offer. Invisalign aligners are almost invisible when worn, which means you won’t have to worry about having metal brackets in photos or at important social or professional events. You’ll also remove your aligners to eat, drink, brush, and floss, which means there are no dietary restrictions and oral hygiene will be as straightforward as ever. The catch is that Invisalign can’t treat every orthodontic condition, and the cost of treatment with Invisalign will be somewhat higher than braces for most patients.

Notice of Temporary Closure

RE: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

To our valued patients,

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), President Trump, the American Dental Association and the Hawaii Dental Association are recommending all dentists postpone nonemergency dental procedures for 2 weeks. Our practice is committed to protecting the community and avoiding using valuable resources that our first responders and frontline healthcare providers will need.

Our office will be closed effective today, Wednesday, March 18, and we plan to resume regular hours on Wednesday, April 1. If you are experiencing a true dental emergency including swelling or severe tooth pain, please call your general dentist office, and listen closely as emergency contact info will be available. For all nonemergent questions, please email us at [email protected].

We are so sorry for the burden this places on your schedules, but your continued health and safety are our number one priority. Our office is working diligently to reschedule all patients with existing appointments within the next 2 weeks. We will continue to evaluate the situation as it evolves and determine on a weekly basis when it is appropriate for us to return to normal orthodontic patient care. We ask for your compassion and understanding at this time as we all work together to keep Hawaii healthy.

Sincerely,

Your Morita Orthodontics Ohana
