Give Kids A Smile Day 2018

For over 36 years, Morita Orthodontics has been an integral part of the Aiea and Honolulu communities, providing the highest quality orthodontic care to patients of all ages. What motivates us every day is that for every new smile that we create, we are able to make our community a little brighter, while also forging lasting bonds with our patients as the join the ever growing Morita Orthodontics family. Our community has provided so much for us over the years, which is why we love to give back at every opportunity we get. As one of our many community efforts, Morita Orthodontics was proud to partner with the American Dental Association and The Hawaii Dental Association Foundation to host our annual 2018 Give Kids A Smile Day back in February.

This year, we impacted the lives of over 800 kids in our community with our school presentations and event day, where we provided free dental care for kids, along with a fun experience full of fun activities and giveaways.

About Give Kids A Smile (GKAS)

Give Kids A Smile is a national program created by the American Dental Association in an effort to provide children in underserved communities with dental services and education about oral health care. The program was created in response to the growing population of children in the U.S. that suffer from untreated dental issues such as cavities and are at risk for developing more serious oral health issues in the future. By partnering with local dentists and dental foundations, Give Kids A Smile has continued to grow and help thousands of kids each year around the United States.

Here in Hawaii, the Give Kids A Smile program has flourished, and thanks to the lobbying efforts of the Hawaii Dental Association Foundation, Governor Ige signed a proclamation to officially recognize the month of February as “Give Kids A Smile Hawaii” Month.

Notice of Temporary Closure

RE: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

To our valued patients,

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), President Trump, the American Dental Association and the Hawaii Dental Association are recommending all dentists postpone nonemergency dental procedures for 2 weeks. Our practice is committed to protecting the community and avoiding using valuable resources that our first responders and frontline healthcare providers will need.

Our office will be closed effective today, Wednesday, March 18, and we plan to resume regular hours on Wednesday, April 1. If you are experiencing a true dental emergency including swelling or severe tooth pain, please call your general dentist office, and listen closely as emergency contact info will be available. For all nonemergent questions, please email us at [email protected].

We are so sorry for the burden this places on your schedules, but your continued health and safety are our number one priority. Our office is working diligently to reschedule all patients with existing appointments within the next 2 weeks. We will continue to evaluate the situation as it evolves and determine on a weekly basis when it is appropriate for us to return to normal orthodontic patient care. We ask for your compassion and understanding at this time as we all work together to keep Hawaii healthy.

Sincerely,

Your Morita Orthodontics Ohana
