Which Type of Braces Is Best for Me?

At Morita Orthodontics, we’re to be a resource for everyone in the Aiea and greater Honolulu areas who’s looking to revitalize their smile through orthodontic treatment. But if you choose to pursue orthodontic treatment, you’ll have some big choices to make when it comes to your treatment method. Even if you opt for orthodontic braces, there are still several types of braces to choose from, and as your Honolulu orthodontist, we’re here to help you find the perfect fit.

How to Choose the Right Type of Braces

Wondering which type of braces is best for your situation? Ultimately, there’s no wrong answer: we can correct your smile using any variety of braces or Invisalign, and our expert Aiea orthodontist knows how to personalize treatment to deliver the best possible result. But every treatment method has its own pros and cons, so here are a few tips on how to choose the one that’s right for you:

  • Traditional Metal Braces: Despite the many alternatives we offer, traditional metal braces are still our most popular treatment method. Why? They’re durable, reliable, and cost-effective, and we can use them to treat just about any orthodontic condition under the sun. If you’re looking for a simple, effective, and affordable way to get a new smile, metal braces are a great choice.
  • Clear Braces: These are just like metal braces, but the brackets are made from a clear composite material that blends in with teeth. These work well for patients who want a discreet treatment method, but still need the reliability of braces.
  • Clarity Braces: Clarity braces are a variant of clear braces made from a ceramic composite material. They blend in well with teeth, and the ceramic composite won’t stain or discolor, allowing you to enjoy discreet braces throughout your treatment.
  • Lingual Braces: Lingual braces work the same way as traditional metal braces, with one key difference: the brackets are placed on the inside (tongue side) of the teeth. This means they’re completely impossible to see when the mouth is closed, so although they take some getting used to, they’re a fully invisible option for orthodontic treatment.
