October is Orthodontic Health Awareness Month

Morita Orthodontics is excited to announce that October is orthodontic health awareness month. It’s not a secret that our orthodontists and staff are passionate about orthodontics and helping patients achieve beautiful smiles for life. We believe that orthodontic care is so much more than aesthetics, as it is important for your overall health too!

What Orthodontics Can Do For You!

For us, orthodontic health is more than just having straight teeth. Our Honolulu orthodontics office is confident that treatments such as braces and Invisalign will change your life for the better, in more ways than one. Here are a few things that orthodontics can change in your life:

  • Speech: Crooked teeth and a misaligned bite can cause many speech impediments. With orthodontic care, you will speak more clearly and enunciate your words, leading to a higher level of confidence in your speech.
  • Better Brushing: Crooked teeth can make brushing and flossing more difficult. On the other hand, straight teeth do not allow as many food particles to get trapped in between your teeth, making it easier to maintain oral hygiene.
  • Fewer Headaches: With braces, you can reduce the uneven ware that may be caused by crooked teeth and a poorly aligned bite. This will reduce the pressure on your jaw and potentially lead to less headaches as well.
  • Improved Health: Decaying teeth can be hidden by crooked teeth, making it more difficult to catch the problem early on. These issues may increase your risk for heart disease and high blood sugar. Straightening your teeth with braces will allow for better oral hygiene and general health for the entire body.
  • Easier Chewing: Crooked teeth can make it difficult to chew foods and break them down properly. In some cases, this can lead to digestive problems down the road. Orthodontic treatment will allow you to chew and bite correctly while consuming all the foods you please!
  • Fewer Gum & Tissue Issues: Crooked teeth can crowd your mouth, pushing into your gums and mouth tissues. This can be painful, resulting in cuts, sores, and sometimes infections. Straightening your teeth can help you avoid this potential discomfort.
