Kuli’ou’ou Ridge Trail

Totaling 5 miles roundtrip, this trail is perfect for those who are just getting into hiking. This path will keep you enticed with it’s constantly changing environments and a great variety of flora along the way. This hike offers forest-like scenery, with vast Hawaiian vegetation, and ocean views. Although it is an easy to moderate hike, it does slowly creep uphill to reach the summit, so be prepared for a gradual climb and occasional switchbacks!

Maunawili Falls

If tropical waterfalls and refreshing freshwater pools are your goals, then this is the trail for you. Although this trail is only 2.5 miles roundtrip, it creeps a little over moderate difficulty since it requires a lot of crossings over tangled tree roots and rocky streams. Yet when you reach the bottom of the trail you will be greeted with a Hawaiian oasis, a waterfall and freshwater pool. Here you can swim, jump off rocks into the pool, or simply take in the views.

Aiea Loop Trail

This trail is perfect for any hiking and history enthusiasts. This easy to moderate 4.8-mile roundtrip hike offers many scenic views and if you’re lucky, the wreckage from a World War II bomber plane. As you climb upwards, you can also catch sights of Aloha Stadium, Pearl Harbor, Hickam Field, Byodo-In temple, and various views of the H3. It’s not a strenuous hike, but it does have some gradual hills and can be muddy and wet at times.

Ka’au Crater

If you’re an experienced hiker with a taste for adventure, then look no further. This 5-mile roundtrip difficult trail offers a little taste of everything; from waterfalls to ridgelines or scenic city views to vast overgrown craters. Despite its massive beauty, the trail contains many of steep climbs, and at times even very narrow pathways along ridgelines.
