We understand that each patient has various needs, which is why our Honolulu orthodontists and staff strive to offer a large variety of orthodontic treatments. At Morita Orthodontics, our orthodontists and staff work hard to provide each patient a unique treatment that works for them. Listed below are some of the types of braces and orthodontic treatments we offer in our Honolulu, HI Office.

Metal braces are the most traditional and most common form of braces. They use a series of brackets and wires that are made from high-grade stainless steel that are bonded to your teeth. Today’s metal braces are smaller, more comfortable and more attractive. Metal braces are still a popular choice for many patients due being economical, effective, and reliable.

Metal

If you want a treatment similar to metal braces, but prefer a slightly less visible look, then Ceramic braces are right for you. They offer a variation of the traditional orthodontic treatment yet are made of translucent ceramic material that blends in with the tooth’s natural color, rather than stainless steel. They are most popular with adult patients, due to their cosmetic appeal. The only drawback to ceramic brackets is that they are more fragile, and the elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits.

Clarity™ braces feature a comfortable design with a translucent appearance. Unlike traditional ceramic braces, Clarity™ braces are made from a hard ceramic material, so they won’t stain or discolor. They are ultra small and come in a dome-shaped design for a more comfortable fit. With the same performance as metal braces, many patients are now choosing the clear option – Clarity™!

Harmony™ are placed behind your teeth so no one will know that you are wearing braces unless you tell them. These unique braces are created using state-of-the-art technology and are 100% customized to the shape of your teeth and to your dental situation. Harmony have the unique prescription that your orthodontist creates for you built-in to ensure you get the results that you want. With Harmony, you get efficient, effective tooth movement and great aesthetics.

Unlike traditional braces that use brackets and wires to shift a patient’s teeth, the Invisalign® System is a series of clear removable overlay templates to help with alignment. The Invisalign® removable templates, known as aligners, are generated by computer simulation to gradually move the teeth. Invisalign® offers a discreet treatment option since the aligners are virtually invisible to see. In addition, since the aligners are made of polyurethane plastic, Invisalign® also provides much more comfort for your mouth. This system is available to adult patients with certain orthodontic bite problems, and isn’t always suitable for all patients. So feel free to consult one of our orthodontists at Morita Orthodontics in Honolulu and find out if you are a candidate for the Invisalign® System.

Notice of Temporary Closure

RE: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

To our valued patients,

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), President Trump, the American Dental Association and the Hawaii Dental Association are recommending all dentists postpone nonemergency dental procedures for 2 weeks. Our practice is committed to protecting the community and avoiding using valuable resources that our first responders and frontline healthcare providers will need.

Our office will be closed effective today, Wednesday, March 18, and we plan to resume regular hours on Wednesday, April 1. If you are experiencing a true dental emergency including swelling or severe tooth pain, please call your general dentist office, and listen closely as emergency contact info will be available. For all nonemergent questions, please email us at [email protected].

We are so sorry for the burden this places on your schedules, but your continued health and safety are our number one priority. Our office is working diligently to reschedule all patients with existing appointments within the next 2 weeks. We will continue to evaluate the situation as it evolves and determine on a weekly basis when it is appropriate for us to return to normal orthodontic patient care. We ask for your compassion and understanding at this time as we all work together to keep Hawaii healthy.

Sincerely,

Your Morita Orthodontics Ohana
